واجتاز إيفرتون المباراة بسهولة، وأكد النادي الذي فاز آخر مرة بالكأس عام 1995 على حساب مانشستر يونايتد، أنه محصن ضد المفاجآت بعد خروجه فائزا من المواجهات التسع الأخيرة التي جمعته بفرق من خارج الدوري الممتاز.  

ويدين فريق المدرب الإسباني روبرتو مارتينيز بتأهله إلى أصحاب الأهداف الإيفواري أرونا كونيه (2) وآرون لينون (14) وروس باركلي (65)، الذين سجلوا الأهداف الثلاثة.  

ويختتم الدور الرابع لاحقا بمباراة تشلسي ومضيفه ميلتون كينس دونز (درجة أولى)، علما بأن ليفربول ووست بروميتش ألبيون سيضطران لمواجهة وست هام يونايتد وبيتربورو (درجة ثانية) مجددا بعد تعادلهما معهما صفر-صفر و2-2 على التوالي.
