FIFA is reportedly congratulating Al-Hilal for their performance in the Mauritanian league and has included their league lead in its weekly magazine. Al-Hilal, a Sudanese team, is participating in the Mauritanian league due to the ongoing war in Sudan. While Al-Hilal has won the Mauritanian league, the Sudanese Football Association and CAF (Confederation of African Football) do not recognize this achievement for qualification purposes for the CAF Champions League. Al-Hilal will instead participate in a mini-tournament in Sudan to determine their qualification for the CAF Champions League
